About us

We are a group of people from many different churches and traditions in the city, who love Jesus, and want to see His name lifted high above our city; we are people who love prayer and want to encourage prayer and worship, and stir others to deepen their prayer-life, that the whole city might come to believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

We call ourselves a community, for that is what we have become, with a commitment to each other, as well as to the HoP, that runs deep.  We are being built together in love and we meet together regularly to pray and fellowship.  We are very open to others joining in, and welcome new people to join us on the journey.

From early days the House was run by a team of dedicated volunteers, initially led by Anne Findley of St. John’s Westwood (now in Sheffield), with a core team helping with admin, bookings, communications, maintenance etc.  with a team of faithful Hosts who volunteer their time in the House to make it available to others to come and pray there.

The House continued under a management team, until Anne Findley left around 2013, and Jo Ognanovich  took over as director, bringing a new wave of prophetic vision and creativity. In 2018, Jo stepped down and Dave Butler came on board as our new director, bringing a wealth of experience of praying with others in the city, and a unique apostolic over-sight.  Cath Henzell is our day-to-day manager and leads on communications.  We still have a core of helpers, prayer supporters and a fabulous team of Hosts, some of whom have been with us since the beginning.

We are an independent, ecumenical project not linked to any particular church or denomination, though we are a project of Hope Coventry and are accountable to them.  Our only source of funding comes from visitor donations and the support of a small number of city churches and amazing individuals.

We are part of a national House of Prayer Network and linked in with a number of national and local prayer initiatives, particularly Cov365 and the Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer, the World Prayer Centre, Mission:Mercia, National Day of Prayer and Worship (NDOPW) among others.
